Bottom line: Nomi is a memory-focused AI companion that gives free users 50 messages a day and charges one flat subscription rather than tiers. If you want a relationship-style chat that builds on earlier conversations, it is worth a look. If you want a big character catalogue or refunds if you change your mind, it is not.
What Nomi is
Nomi is an AI companion app on iOS, Android and the web. You create a companion, called a Nomi, choose its personality and keep chatting as it builds up a history with you. Sign-up needs a Google or Apple account, according to its privacy policy, and you give a name or pseudonym and a date of birth. Compared with the image-first apps such as Candy AI, it leans toward conversation. For a similar chat-first approach, see our Anima review.

Free plan and pricing
Nomi’s own wiki says it offers an indefinite free plan with 50 messages per day, so you can chat with a Nomi before subscribing. It also states that subscription purchases are nonrefundable under its Terms of Service.
On price, the founder said in a June 2025 community stream that the company can “deliver a $100 a month product at $16 a month” and does not plan separate membership levels. A November 2025 stream summary says he does not expect annual price increases for 2026, and that extra credits are sold in bulk packs. Treat the monthly figure as the founder’s description from that stream, not a price list: Apple and Google subscriptions are billed in the store’s own currency and pricing, web subscriptions are billed in USD, and the wiki notes web pricing can be slightly better. Privacy: what Nomi says
“The short answer is yes. We take data security and privacy very seriously.”
Nomi wiki, answering whether Nomi conversations are private
The wiki adds that the company cannot prove it beyond its word and points to the engineer who built most of the data storage. It also explains that messages generate replies and, if you thumb a message up or down, may be used to teach Nomis, with details such as names anonymised first. That is the company’s description. There is no independent audit we can point to, so keep intimate or identifying details out of any AI chat. Read the full Nomi privacy policy before you start.
